A major political controversy erupted inside the Punjab Assembly following an incident involving Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.
In the viral videos online, CM KP Afridi was pushed, manhandled, and verbally humiliated by security personnel before being forcibly escorted out of the assembly premises. The incident has sparked strong reactions and accusations of misconduct against Punjab Assembly security officials.
Chaotic scenes were witnessed on December 26, 2025, when Afridi arrived at the Punjab Assembly. Video footage circulating on social media showed a large number of supporters pushing past security barriers, chanting slogans, and recording the moment on their mobile phones, creating disorder inside the building.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) accused the Punjab government of deliberately obstructing the KP chief minister’s visit, claiming that roads were blocked at Liberty Chowk to restrict his movement. PTI leaders said these actions were aimed at preventing Afridi’s entry into the assembly.
The Punjab government rejected the allegations, stating that security arrangements were put in place due to concerns surrounding the visit of an inter-provincial political leader and the presence of a large crowd.
