KP Launches Crackdown on Illegal Housing Societies

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has launched a province-wide crackdown on illegal housing societies.

Authorities have asked all developers to submit complete records to identify projects that are operating without required No Objection Certificates (NOCs) or using forged documents.

Director General of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Land Use and Building Control Authority, Khizar Hayat Khan, said several housing societies ignored earlier orders to legalize their projects. He said they were given enough time to obtain NOCs by submitting complete legal documents but failed to do so.

He stated that housing schemes operating without valid NOCs are illegal and pose a serious risk to the public, as such projects often collect money unlawfully from citizens under the pretext of selling residential plots.

To ensure transparency, the verification of NOCs and other legal documents will now be carried out at the LUBCA headquarters instead of at the Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) level.

Authorities have decided to take strict legal action against non-compliant housing societies. Measures include sealing offices, registering criminal cases against owners, and coordinating with concerned police stations.

Khizar Hayat Khan further added that field-level monitoring is being strengthened and warned that any negligence by officials in enforcing regulations will lead to disciplinary action under relevant rules.

He also said similar actions are being taken at the federal level and in other provinces to curb illegal housing schemes.

The public has been advised to independently verify the legal status and NOCs of housing societies before making any investment to avoid potential financial losses.
