Major European Clubs Interested in Signing Pakistani Football Star

Pakistan captain Abdullah Iqbal has emerged as a strong transfer target for European clubs, with Belgian side KAA Gent and Hungarian champions Ferencváros reportedly preparing moves for the highly rated defender.

The 23-year-old Danish-Pakistani enjoyed a breakthrough spell in Sweden after joining Mjällby from the Danish club Boldklubben af 1893, also known as B.93, in 2024.

The transfer, completed for around 1.5 million Danish Krones (DKK), approximately Rs. 66.19 million, has since been widely viewed as a bargain, given Iqbal’s rapid development and growing reputation.

Abdullah Iqbal played a key role in Mjällby’s unexpected Allsvenskan title triumph, a campaign that significantly raised his profile across Europe. His consistent performances at the club level, combined with his leadership role as Pakistan’s national team captain, have placed him firmly on the radar of clubs seeking defensive reinforcements.

According to current estimates, Iqbal’s market value has risen to around €2 million, reflecting his steady rise and increasing demand. Despite the jump in valuation, both Gent and Ferencváros are understood to remain keen, with interest not expected to cool ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

If a move materializes, it would mark another important step in Iqbal’s career and further highlight the growing presence of Pakistani footballers in European leagues.
