A notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore permitting Basant celebrations has been challenged in the Lahore High Court.
Advocate Azhar Siddique filed a petition, stating that the Deputy Commissioner issued a notification allowing Basant to be held on February 6, 7, and 8.
The petition stated that in recent days a young girl and a young man were seriously injured due to kite strings. It added that similar incidents in the past have caused the loss of valuable lives.
The petitioner urged the court to order the Deputy Commissioner to withdraw the notification permitting Basant.
The petition also requested the Lahore High Court to suspend the notification until it reaches a final decision on the main petition.
