The Punjab government has announced long-awaited relief for more than 300,000 teachers and government employees by issuing directives to complete pending promotions across the province.
According to an official notification from the Directorate of Public Instruction (Elementary) Punjab, all eligible employees in grades 1 to 16 will be promoted within one month. Promotion orders have been sent to the Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) of all districts, instructing them to ensure timely implementation.
The DPI Elementary Punjab has also directed all relevant authorities to clear long-pending promotion files on a priority basis.
Officials have been warned that disciplinary action will be taken in cases of unnecessary delay, negligence, or failure to process cases within the given timeframe.
Teachers and government staff have welcomed the decision, calling it a major relief for thousands of employees whose promotions had been stalled for years.
They believe the move will not only address longstanding grievances but also restore confidence among the workforce.
