Punjab Food Authority Seals 14 Food Points

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) carried out large-scale operations across the Lahore zone at the start of the New Year, inspecting 3,427 food units and points.

During the crackdown, eight FIRs were registered, 14 food businesses were sealed for serious violations, and fines totaling Rs. 2.05 million were imposed on 150 units for non-compliance with food safety laws.

Food safety teams conducted early morning operations in the Badami Bagh area, where two honey units were raided. Officials discarded 160 kilograms of fake honey and seized more than one maund of glucose recovered from the premises.

Director General PFA Asim Javed said inspections increased by 105 percent in 2025 compared to previous years, with more than 1.35 million food points inspected across Punjab.

He stated that 309 million litres of milk were tested during the year, and 1,068 FIRs were registered against those involved in milk adulteration.

He further said that from the beginning of the new year, uploading complete records related to water and milk quality, along with traceability, has been made mandatory on the PFA digital portal.

He further added that during the current year, slaughterhouses will be remodeled, digital monitoring will be strengthened, and field operations will be supervised through new uniforms and body cameras.

The Director General also stated that the scope of the school meal program is being expanded, and that a food laboratory and a PFA House will be established in Rawalpindi.

Following the directions of the Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz, PFA teams are taking strict action against food fraud across the province and remain active round the clock.
