Punjab Launches Property Certificates for 20 Districts

The Punjab government has kicked off a new land record reform drive by introducing Green Property Certificates in 20 districts, aiming to make property ownership clearer, safer, and harder to fake.

According to officials, the digital-style certification system is already live in Sialkot, Multan, Sahiwal, and Jhelum, with Rawalpindi, Okara, Khushab, and several other districts also covered in the first rollout. More districts will be added in stages until the scheme is in place across the entire province.

The Land Records Authority says the Green Property Certificate will formally mark the exact boundaries of a plot and serve as government-backed proof of ownership.

By doing so, it is expected to reduce land disputes, protect genuine owners, and help stamp out fraud and forgery in property deals.

The authority’s Director General said the certificates will bear official verification from the Punjab government and called the initiative a major step forward in overhauling the land administration system.

He added that the reform is designed to give buyers and sellers more confidence in real estate transactions and to bring transparency to a sector long plagued by fake documents and contested claims.
