Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) has announced a new gas discovery at the Bilitang-1 exploratory well in the TAL Block located in District Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to a notice sent to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.
The well, operated by MOL and spudded on August 10, 2025, was drilled to a depth of 4,011 meters. Drill Stem Tests (DST) conducted at the well to assess the Hangu and Lumshiwal formations yielded a flow rate of 1.58 million standard cubic feet (MMscf) of gas per day at a 40/64″ fixed choke size and a flowing wellhead pressure of 164 psi.
An acid job is also underway to further improve production from these formations.
POL noted that a DST to test the potential of the Lockhart formation is also planned, with any material developments to be shared in due course. The company emphasized that DST results are preliminary and actual production may differ significantly from test outcomes.
Pakistan Oilfields Limited holds a 25% pre-commerciality working interest in the TAL Block. The discovery is expected to contribute to the country’s indigenous hydrocarbon resources, supporting energy security and supply.
