Sindh Introduces Uniform Examination System Across All Education Boards

For the first time in Sindh, a joint and uniform examination standard has been implemented across all examination boards. Under the new system, examinations in English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology will be conducted according to a single, standardized framework.

The Sindh School Education Department has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the implementation of the Uniform Examination Syllabus (UES) following its formal approval by Provincial Minister for Education Syed Sardar Ali Shah.

According to officials, the UES has initially been implemented for Classes IX and X after review and recommendations by the Directorate of Curriculum, Assessment and Research (DCAR), Sindh. Examination papers will now be prepared in line with a Table of Specifications.

Provincial Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah stated that examinations will no longer be based solely on textbooks, but on the approved UES, ensuring that all educational boards across the province follow the same examination framework and standards.

He said the initiative would eliminate disparities among boards and remove the long-standing perception that some boards are easier or more difficult than others.

The minister added that the new examination system will focus on understanding, application, and critical thinking, rather than rote memorization, allowing for a more accurate assessment of students’ actual learning abilities.

He said that the adoption of a modern assessment system would not only improve examination standards but also promote transparency and uniformity across the province.

According to the education minister, alongside examination reforms, special attention is being given to student learning outcomes, while teacher professional training systems are also being strengthened to ensure effective implementation of the reforms.

He expressed confidence that these reforms would lay the foundation for an education system aligned with future needs and enable a fair and accurate assessment of students’ capabilities.

The minister hoped the initiative would prove to be a milestone in establishing a strong, transparent, and credible examination system in Sindh.

The School Education Department stated that the Uniform Examination Syllabus is currently limited to Classes IX and X, while implementation for Classes XI and XII will be carried out in the next phase following further review and recommendations by DCAR.
