The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has begun issuing notices in Bhara Kahu, Kot Hatial, Jumma Bazaar, Janjua Town, Mangial, Sabhan, Mandla, and adjacent areas, informing residents that these localities are situated on CDA-owned land.
According to official sources, under CDA policy, residents with legal claims to properties and constructions in these areas will be compensated at the rate of PKR 1,300 per square foot. However, individuals deemed to be occupying CDA land illegally have been instructed to vacate the premises within two days.
The issuance of these notices has caused significant concern among local residents. Many inhabitants argue that they have lived in these areas for several years and possess utilities connections, including electricity, gas, and water, making sudden eviction appear unjust.
Residents have appealed to the government and CDA authorities for adequate time, a transparent survey process, and full rehabilitation arrangements for affected families. CDA officials, however, maintain that the operation is aimed at reclaiming government land and enforcing the master plan.
