The Punjab government has decided to purchase electric bikes for excise department employees for the first time.
Officials said the government will procure 200 electric bikes for excise inspectors across Punjab, including Lahore. The bikes will be allocated to inspectors in different districts according to departmental requirements.
According to excise department officials, the government will spend approximately Rs. 250,000 on each electric bike. They said the provincial government has approved Rs. 50 million for the purchase of the bikes.
Officials added that the procurement and distribution of the electric bikes will be completed within the current financial year.
