Apple’s Siri is Getting These Google Gemini Powered AI Upgrades

After a series of leaks and rumors had pointed it out already, Apple recently confirmed that it will indeed be powering Siri with Google’s Gemini AI. Apple will also be using Google’s Cloud tech and its Gemini models to build its own foundational models.

And now we know what features we can expect to see on Siri once it brings Google Gemini on board.

According to The Information’s report, Apple will be running these AI models both on-device and through Private Cloud Compute, but it did not share any further details. We can assume that the less powerful features that do not require powerful cloud servers will be processed directly on the iPhones to save latency, while more demanding tasks will be sent to the cloud and back.

Apple will also be able to request specific changes to Google’s AI models to fine-tune and customize them so it can deliver responses in Apple’s preferred manner.

The report adds that Siri’s responses currently do not include any Google or Gemini branding. However, Apple may change this before the feature is publicly released.

The new version of Siri is expected to provide direct answers to general knowledge questions instead of redirecting users to external links. The updated assistant is also said to deliver improved emotional support through more natural and empathetic conversational responses.

In addition, the Gemini-powered Siri is expected to better handle unclear or vague requests. Rather than responding with “I don’t understand,” it will attempt to interpret the user’s intent and provide a more helpful reply.

Apple has not yet announced an official rollout timeline for the upgraded Siri. The report states that the release will happen gradually, with some features likely to be introduced at WWDC 2026 and others expected to arrive in the spring.
