Renowned Journalist Launches New Political Party

Renowned TV anchor Iqrar Ul Hassan has announced the formation of a new political party, Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek, saying it aims to drive political change in the country.

He revealed the move during a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, where he stressed he would not take any role within the party or accept any government position. “I swear by Allah and His Prophet (PBUH) that I will not take any party or official post,” he said.

Iqrar said he believes the party can challenge the country’s conventional political culture and offer fresh hope to the public. He added that the initiative is not meant for personal benefit or political advantage, and stated that the party’s activities will begin across Pakistan soon.

Describing Pakistan Awam Raj Tehreek as a democratic platform belonging to the people, he argued it would not be controlled by any single individual or family, nor would its leadership be inherited.

Iqrar had previously urged former prime minister Imran Khan and other senior politicians to step away from politics, claiming they no longer reflected the views of Generation Z voters. Those comments sparked strong backlash from PTI supporters, who accused him of siding with the establishment.
