Honor Watch GS 5 Goes Official With 23-Day Battery Life

Honor has unveiled the Watch GS 5, its next-generation smartwatch with enhanced health tracking, with a particular emphasis on heart-related features and extended battery life.

Slimmer Design But Extended Battery Life

The Watch GS 5 retains the familiar round dial design used in earlier GS models but arrives in a slimmer and lighter body. Honor said the watch measures 9.9mm in thickness and weighs 26 grams, a design intended to improve comfort during all-day wear and overnight use.

Battery life is rated at up to 23 days in Bluetooth mode, placing the Watch GS 5 among the longest-lasting smartwatches in its segment.

New Heart-Focused Health Features

Health tracking is the central focus of the Watch GS 5. Honor said the device includes a sudden cardiac arrest screening function, which it described as an industry first. The feature analyzes heart rhythm data and related signals to identify potential risks.

The watch also introduces a cardiovascular risk assessment tool that evaluates broader heart health trends and provides early warnings when potential issues are detected. Honor emphasized that these features are designed to improve awareness and are not intended to replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

In addition to these new tools, the Watch GS 5 supports standard health tracking features such as continuous heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen saturation (SpO2) tracking, stress monitoring, and sleep analysis. Honor has not yet disclosed full details about the sensor hardware, but is expected to rely on an upgraded version of the multi-channel sensor system used in previous GS models.

Everyday Smart Features

Beyond health tracking, the Watch GS 5 includes daily convenience features such as smart reminders for flights, high-speed trains, and taxi bookings.

Honor has not officially confirmed display specifications, but the design suggests continuity with earlier GS watches, which featured a 1.43-inch AMOLED screen.

Pricing

Honor has not announced pricing for the Watch GS 5. For reference, the Watch GS4 launched in March 2024 with a starting price of 949 yuan, which converts to $136. The new model is expected to be priced in a similar range.
