The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Lahore has urged authorities to immediately build an overhead bridge or underpass connecting Lady Aitchison Hospital and Mayo Hospital, 24News reported.
PMA Lahore President Prof. Shahid Malik said no direct route currently links the two hospitals. At night, the main gates of both facilities often remain closed, forcing doctors, nurses, staff, and patient attendants to take long detours.
“This is especially challenging for on-call doctors who frequently need to move between the hospitals,” he added.
Prof. Malik also highlighted that in emergencies, ambulances must take longer routes via Shalmi Chowk or other distant roads to reach Mayo Hospital, causing critical delays and endangering patients’ lives.
“A dedicated bridge or underpass would ensure timely medical care and improve emergency response,” he said.
