The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is set to convene today to sight the moon of Shaban 1447 Hijri.
The meeting will be chaired by Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad. The committee will review moon sighting testimonies received from across the country before making an official announcement regarding the beginning of Shaban.
Meanwhile, astronomers have predicted that the first day of Shaban is likely to fall on January 21. Astronomy expert Professor Dr. Faheem stated that there is no chance of moon sighting on January 19.
Pakistan’s space agency, Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), has also indicated that the first day of Shaban 1447 Hijri is expected to be on January 21, 2026.
According to a SUPARCO spokesperson, the new moon for Shaban 1447 Hijri will be born on January 19 at 12:52 a.m. local time.
The final decision, however, will be announced by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after evaluating all received testimonies.
