Xiaomi’s New Smart Glasses Look Completely Ordinary — But Hide Clever Tech

Xiaomi is making sure you can have techy wearable gadgets on your face without looking odd in public. The Chinese phone maker’s new smart glasses look no different from your regular eyeglasses, but still bring smart features along.

These are called the Mijia Smart Audio Glasses. The product combines traditional eyewear with open-ear audio technology and is designed around everyday usability rather than immersive listening.

Open-Ear Audio

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Audio Glasses integrate ultrasonic speakers and four microphones directly into the frame. Instead of using in-ear tips, the glasses rely on open-ear audio, allowing users to listen to music and handle calls while remaining aware of their surroundings.

Xiaomi uses an SLS0820 ultrasonic speaker with air-conducted sound transmission, which is designed to deliver clear audio. The system also supports wind-noise reduction. A dedicated privacy mode with dual sound leakage protection is included to reduce the amount of sound heard by people nearby.

Multiple Design Options

The smart glasses are offered in three variants: Titanium, Pilot style, and Browline. The Titanium version weighs 27.6 grams, making it the lightest option. Select models include lenses with UV protection and Bluetooth light protection.

Controls, App Support, and Connectivity

Touch panels built into the frame allow users to control playback, adjust volume, and manage calls. The glasses connect through the Xiaomi Glasses app, which enables additional features such as gesture customization, voice assistant support, and tracking for misplaced glasses.

The app also activates LED privacy indicators when recording is in use. Dual device connectivity is supported, allowing the glasses to connect to more than one device at the same time.

Battery Life and Additional Features

On a full charge, the Xiaomi Mijia Smart Audio Glasses provide up to 13 hours of continuous audio playback. A quick 10-minute charge delivers up to four hours of listening time.

Other features include Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity and an IP54 rating for water and dust resistance.

The Xiaomi Mijia Smart Audio Glasses are now available in Europe. The Titanium version is priced at 199 euros, while the Browline and Pilot-style variants are available for $207.
