A notification is circulating on social media claiming that Punjab’s public and private colleges and universities will no longer enforce attendance requirements for students.
The document, dated January 17, 2026, allegedly directs institutions not to block students from admissions or examinations due to low attendance and prohibits attendance-related fines or penalties.
It also claims to threaten strict legal and administrative action for non-compliance and is signed by a Section Officer named Babar Khan Gondal.
The Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan has responded to the circulation of this notification, warning the public to remain cautious. HEC stated that this fake notification is being widely shared on social media platforms.
The commission urged students, faculty, and institutions to stay vigilant and avoid spreading unverified information. HEC advised everyone to always refer to official government websites and verified social media pages for authentic updates.
