New PTA Tax Values For Used Samsung Galaxy S23 Series in Pakistan

Yesterday, we brought you new PTA tax values for used iPhone 15 series in Pakistan, set to take effect in about a week or so. Today, we are going to talk about new custom values for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, which will effectively reduce the amount of PTA tax you have to pay on these used phones.

As you are well aware already, the Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has fixed new customs values for the import of used phones, and this includes popular brands such as Apple, Google, Samsung, and OnePlus.

Here are the new tax and final retail values for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series you expect to see within a week or so. The lineup includes the Galaxy S23, S23+, and the top-tier Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Series PTA Tax

Currently, the custom value set for the vanilla Galaxy S23 is $140 only, which converts to Rs. 36,397 based on the current exchange rate. The PTA taxes on this value are Rs. 19,217 on CNIC, and only Rs. 17,236 on a passport. Adding these values together, along with a rough estimate of general profit margins, we get a final retail value of Rs. 55,000 for Samsung Galaxy S23.

Going over to the Samsung Galaxy S23+, the customs value for this phone is currently set at $160, which is Rs. 44,796, bringing the PTA tax value to Rs. 20,225 on CNIC and passport taxes at Rs. 18,244. That means the final retail value should be roundabout Rs. 65,000.

Finally, the top dog in the series, the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, has a high chance costing only Rs. 100,000 thanks to this reduction. Its current custom value is only $255 (Rs. 71,393), which means the PTA taxes should be Rs. 29,313 and Rs. 26,852 on CNIC and passports respectively. This should bring the final retail value of a PTA approved Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra at around Rs. 100,000 only.
