The Punjab government has approved a new uniform for Lahore traffic police, sources confirmed. The updated attire will be implemented in Lahore, while wardens in other districts will continue with the existing uniform.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved the switch from the current light blue uniforms to a navy blue design during a meeting with senior officials on Tuesday. The new outfit for wardens on city roads will include navy blue trousers, a white shirt and belt, a blue tie, jersey, navy coat, and matching cap.
Office staff in Lahore will follow a more formal dress code, with administrative and supervisory personnel required to wear coats or blazers. Officials said the change aims to provide traffic personnel with a professional and distinct identity suitable for the city’s demanding traffic environment.
The uniform rollout will happen in phases after procurement and distribution arrangements are finalized. Three design prototypes—for field staff, office personnel, and women officers—were presented to the chief minister.
Last October, a previous plan to introduce fawn-colored uniforms was scrapped due to high costs, saving roughly Rs. 60 million. A senior official said that the revised uniform is intended to improve visibility, authority, and professionalism on Lahore’s busy streets.
