Samsung has effectively confirmed a long-rumored display feature for the upcoming Galaxy S26 Ultra, following a slip in documentation related to One UI 8.5.
The feature, known as Privacy Display, has been the subject of leaks in recent months. It is designed to replicate the effect of a frosted privacy screen protector without requiring any physical accessory.
Samsung revealed the feature unintentionally in a blog post detailing upcoming Good Lock enhancements for One UI 8.5. The post outlined new customization options across modules such as LockStar, QuickStar, Home Up, and Game Booster+.
As first noted by 9to5Google, a screenshot included in the blog showed a Quick Settings panel containing a toggle labeled “Privacy Display.” The toggle appeared within the QuickStar interface, positioned below the music widget and above the Nearby devices option.
The presence of the toggle strongly suggests that Privacy Display is actively in development and intended for public release.
Further evidence surfaced after SammyGuru discovered an animation demonstrating the feature’s behavior. The animation shows the display dynamically obscuring viewing angles, limiting on-screen visibility to the user directly in front of the device.
Based on early demonstrations, the feature appears to function digitally rather than through hardware changes and is expected to be exclusive to the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
According to existing information, users will be able to manually enable or disable Privacy Display. However, Samsung is also expected to offer an automatic mode that activates the feature in specific environments, such as elevators or other public spaces.
Samsung has not formally announced the Galaxy S26 series, but the lineup is expected to launch in late February. More details about Privacy Display and other new features are likely to emerge closer to the official unveiling.
