Saudi Arabia has reaffirmed its ban on using outdoor loudspeakers for prayers during the holy month of Ramadan.
Sheikh Abdullatif Al Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance, clarified that mosques can only use external speakers for the adhan (call to prayer) and iqama, the announcement of congregational worship.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs issued a circular on Tuesday detailing guidelines for mosque preparations ahead of Ramadan.
The instructions emphasize adherence to official prayer times according to the Umm Al-Qura calendar, proper intervals between adhan and iqama, and the organization of iftar meals exclusively in designated courtyard areas.
Mosque caretakers have also been directed to ensure cleanliness, safety, and proper maintenance of facilities, with special attention to women’s prayer areas.
The ministry said the measures aim to create a calm, organized, and spiritually enriching environment while respecting surrounding communities during Ramadan.
