Peshawar’s Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system has landed another global mention after TransPeshawar was shortlisted as a finalist for the Decarbonizing Transport Awards 2026, according to an announcement by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Finance Adviser Muzammil Aslam.
Aslam described the development as significant in the broader international climate and sustainability context, saying the shortlisting reflects positively on Pakistan at a time when cleaner transport solutions are getting increased attention worldwide.
He also noted that BRT Peshawar has already won five international awards, claiming it is the highest tally achieved by any metro bus service in Pakistan so far.
TransPeshawar operates the BRT network in Peshawar, which the provincial government has repeatedly positioned as a key mass transit project aimed at improving urban mobility and supporting greener, more efficient transportation.
