The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to set up 10 Ramadan bazaars across Islamabad to ensure the availability of affordable and quality food items during the holy month.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa and attended by Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Irfan Nawaz Memon, Chief Officer MCI Dr. Anam Fatima, and senior officials from the district administration and CDA.
During the briefing, officials informed the meeting that seven dedicated Ramadan bazaars will be set up at various locations in the city, while three existing weekly bazaars will be converted into Ramadan bazaars.
The bazaars will be set up at locations including Bhara Kahu, Pakistan Town along the Islamabad Expressway, and Tarnol. The initiative aims to provide citizens with affordable, quality food items at official prices during Ramadan.
The bazaars will include cash-and-carry outlets and stalls run by various companies. A Chand Bazaar will also be organized during the last 10 days of Ramadan to facilitate Eid-ul-Fitr shopping.
Chairman Randhawa directed that all Ramadan bazaars be made cashless to allow easy access to digital payment facilities. He also emphasized the need for cleanliness, beautification, and proper maintenance at all bazaar sites.
Assistant Commissioners and magistrates were instructed to regularly monitor bazaars and markets, while all construction and repair work must be completed before the start of Ramadan.
The CDA Chairman further directed that dedicated stalls for organic food items be allocated and stressed that no compromise on food quality would be tolerated.
He also instructed that maintenance and security arrangements for all Auqaf mosques and Imambargahs be completed in time. Special lighting arrangements will be made at Faisal Mosque and other mosques during the holy month.
In addition, healthy recreational and sports activities will be organized at sports grounds across Islamabad during Ramadan.
According to the CDA Chairman, these measures are aimed at ensuring maximum convenience and improved facilities for citizens during the holy month.
