The School Education Department has issued strict instructions to all private schools across Sindh to implement fire safety measures.
The department ordered the immediate enforcement of fire safety protocols in all private educational institutions.
Under the new directives, the installation of fire alarms, smoke detectors, and fire extinguishers has been made mandatory. Schools have also been instructed to ensure that emergency exits and stairways always remain open and free of obstruction.
The Education Department further directed schools to carry out regular inspections of electrical systems to reduce fire risks.
In addition, schools must display fire evacuation plans at prominent locations on campus. Conducting fire drills at least twice a year has also been made compulsory.
The department emphasized that fire safety training for teachers and staff is mandatory, along with the implementation of special safety arrangements for students with disabilities.
Schools have also been instructed to designate clear assembly points for use during emergencies.
The Education Department warned that strict action will be taken against institutions that fail to comply with these instructions.
