To curb the growing trend of paan spitting across the city, the Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has launched an awareness campaign and decided to soon begin enforcement action against violators at public places, bus stops, and major roads.
According to LWMC, special cleanliness arrangements are being made around paan shops and commercial markets across Lahore.
Washing teams are actively cleaning paan stains from road dividers, shopfronts, and walls in various areas.
Clean-up operations have been completed around paan shops and markets in Mall Road, Anarkali, and Liberty Market. Similarly, washing activities have also been completed in Shadman, Mazang Chowk, Gulshan-e-Ravi, Kareem Block, Litton Road, and Ravi Town.
LWMC further said that cleanliness work has also been completed around paan shops in Sanda Road, Gawalmandi, Bhati Gate, and Shalimar Town, as well as in Harbanspura and Fatehgarh.
LWMC Chief Executive Babar Sahib Din stated that, in addition to cleanliness measures, paan shop owners have been instructed to place dustbins outside their shops to help maintain hygiene and prevent spitting in public spaces.
