Authorities have decided to launch an electric bus service in Multan Division to provide modern, safe and environment friendly public transport.
Before launching the service, the government will construct modern bus shelters across the division. Officials stated that 114 electric buses will operate in Multan Division, supported by 470 bus shelters.
In the first phase, authorities will introduce 45 electric buses on three routes in Multan. In the second phase, they will add 24 more buses on five additional routes. The government has completed the tendering process for 49 bus shelters in Multan City and 87 in the Saddar area.
The project also covers other districts. Authorities will build 136 bus shelters for 15 electric buses in Khanewal, 64 shelters for 10 buses in Vehari, and 134 shelters for 15 buses in Lodhran, where the tendering process is underway.
Multan Division Commissioner Aamir Kareem Khan directed concerned departments to ensure quality, transparency and timely completion of bus shelters before launching the electric bus service.
