A notification circulating widely on social media claims that all public and private educational institutions across Sindh will remain closed on Saturday, February 7, 2026, in connection with the Urs of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar.
The viral document, attributed to the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department, states that the decision was taken during a sub committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education.
It claims the closure applies to all public, private, semi government, and autonomous educational institutions throughout Sindh, including Jamshoro. The notification carries an official format, reference numbers, and signatures, which led many users to believe it was authentic.
However, Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah has rejected the claims made in the circulating notification. He stated that the document being shared on social media under the name of the School Education Department is fake and misleading.
The minister clarified that the department has not issued any notification announcing school closures on February 7. He urged the public, parents, and educational institutions to avoid sharing unverified information and to rely only on official government channels for updates related to school schedules and public holidays.
