Karachi Public Shocked With Explicit Adult Content Displayed on Roadside

Karachi residents were left stunned after explicit adult content was allegedly displayed on roadside digital advertising screens in the DHA area, triggering outrage online and prompting police action.

The incident surfaced during evening when multiple social media users saw that digital advertising boards installed by a private company were playing obscene visuals in public view. The footage and accounts quickly circulated, with many questioning how such content could appear on screens placed along a busy road.

Police officials said an investigation was launched soon after the reports emerged. South Deputy Inspector General Syed Asad Raza later confirmed that one person has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Authorities are examining whether the displays were compromised remotely, including the possibility of being hacked via Wi-Fi, or if the content was uploaded through an insider’s interference, as police had indicated earlier.

Following the incident, a case was registered on the complaint of the company’s legal adviser under Section 292 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with the sale, distribution, and public exhibition or circulation of obscene material. The FIR names unidentified employees as suspects at this stage.

According to the FIR, the complainant stated he received information from the company’s operations director that explicit videos were being played on the firm’s surface-mount device (SMD) screens installed near Ayesha Masjid on Khayaban-i-Ittehad.

The complainant further claimed the company had “reasonable doubts” that the content was displayed deliberately by employee(s) to damage the firm’s reputation, and requested legal proceedings.

Police say further investigation is underway to determine how the material was displayed, whether more individuals were involved, and what safeguards failed in the process.
