The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has initiated a plan to reimagine Islamabad as Pakistan’s leading vibrant cultural and tourism capital while maintaining its long-standing identity as a garden city. For this purpose, the authority has invited proposals from nationally and internationally recognized individual consultants to take on the role of a Creative Consultant for the federal capital.
According to the CDA, the initiative is aimed at going beyond routine beautification and focuses on reshaping Islamabad’s public spaces into a cohesive and dynamic urban experience. The selected consultant will function as a city curator, integrating art, culture, sports, cuisine, leisure, heritage, ecology, and recreation into the city’s overall landscape in line with international practices and Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
The proposed vision includes the development of a citywide tourism framework and the introduction of distinctive public projects across Islamabad. These efforts are intended to improve public spaces, green corridors, civic plazas, cultural and heritage trails, sports and wellness zones, culinary districts, and other experience-based destinations across the city.
CDA officials stated that the authority is seeking highly experienced professionals with at least two decades of leadership in creative direction, urban regeneration, place-making, destination development, or related fields. The consultant is expected to bring a proven record of delivering impactful public realm or city-making projects at the national or international level.
The authority has made the relevant proposal documents available through official platforms and has emphasized that participation is open to eligible individual consultants meeting the specified criteria. CDA has also reiterated its right to accept or reject proposals in accordance with applicable rules, as it moves forward with plans to reposition Islamabad as a major cultural and tourism hub.
