The Islamabad district administration has finalized a digital dashboard to register taxi and bike-hailing services operating in the federal capital, as part of action against unregistered operators.
The development was reviewed during an important meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Islamabad, focusing on enforcement and implementation mechanisms.
During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner East briefed participants on the features of the registration dashboard. It was stated that citizens will be able to verify taxis and bike services through a QR code, allowing instant confirmation of a driver’s registration and credentials.
The briefing added that formal registration of all taxi and bike services will begin from tomorrow.
Officials said that taxi and bike services will be able to register easily through the Islamabad City App. Under the new system, drivers will be required to enter passengers’ CNIC numbers and travel details on the app before commencing a trip. The district administration stated that this step is aimed at enabling one-click verification of drivers to enhance passenger safety.
DC Islamabad said the objective of the initiative is to ensure safer travel facilities in the federal capital.
The district administration has warned that strict action will be taken against individuals operating taxis and bike services without registration in Islamabad. A decision has also been taken to ensure the formal registration of all online taxi services.
Under the registration process, complete data of drivers and vehicles will be collected through digital automation. The Additional Deputy Commissioner East has been directed to coordinate with CEOs of all taxi services, while the Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority has been instructed to launch a crackdown against unregistered bike services.
The DC Islamabad further stated that Islamabad Police will have access to the registration data, and drivers will not be allowed to carry passengers without entering required passenger details on the app, as formal registration begins from tomorrow.
