Punjab Makes Major Changes to Matric Practical Exams

The Matriculation 2026 Exam Task Force has directed all principals of examination centers and schools to install closed-circuit cameras in science laboratories to ensure transparency during practical exams.

In a circular issued to schools, the task force instructed administrations to complete all preparations for science practical examinations by February 28.

The directive requires schools to ensure that laboratory computers are fully functional and that all necessary chemicals, instruments, and equipment for science subjects are available and in proper condition.

According to the circular, technical monitoring teams will visit examination centers across all districts and tehsils after February 28 to inspect laboratory readiness. The task force warned that it will take action against principals and laboratory in-charges if schools fail to meet the required standards within the given timeframe.

The task force also outlined the structure of the practical examinations. Each practical will include two components: assessment of the practical record book and the hands-on practical examination. Resident inspectors posted at examination centers will oversee and verify the entire process.

In addition, principals have been instructed to arrange waiting rooms for parents of female students appearing in practical exams to facilitate families during examination hours.
