Punjab Makes Major Changes to Matric and Inter Exams

The Board Committee of Chairmen of all nine educational boards in the province has approved major reforms to the examination system, ending the traditional manual method of paper marking and monitoring for matriculation and intermediate annual exams.

Under the new framework, biometric attendance will become mandatory for all male and female candidates appearing in examinations. From 2026, students registering for Class 9 and Class 11 will be required to provide thumb impressions.

Authorities will use these thumb impressions for biometric verification and entry into examination centers. Government and private schools will be responsible for making all biometric arrangements, including providing biometric devices and laptops.

Examination boards will only supply the required software. The committee has also approved a complete shift to digital paper marking. Examination boards will scan answer sheets and mark them on computer screens.

Officials say this move will help eliminate incorrect marking, calculation errors, and improve transparency in the assessment process. In addition, authorities have upgraded the science practical examination system.

Practical exams will now involve proper assessments instead of being treated as a formality. This year, officials will partially implement the reforms, beginning with biometric registration for Class 9 and Class 11 students.

CCTV cameras will also be mandatory at all examination centers this year. In Rawalpindi Division, authorities have set up 400 matric and intermediate examination centers, where the installation of CCTV cameras funded by students has already begun.

  • Will some pro-PTI folks now have guts to appreciate that decision and shame your own CM or still no?

    • First of all
The Funds are given by the Students that is They are taking money from Student not Their own Money
      Second of All
It is Good but not Better.
      Third of All
Instead of changing other things but still it is good but yet they should change the Education System and Education of all Government and Private Schools and Colleges and Universities especially Government Schools and Colleges as they still don’t have basic and mandatory resources and the Faculty and Staff should also be taught a Lesson.
      Fourth of all
We still are facing higher inflation and price hike of everything. They should First control and lower the prices.
      Sixth of all
The Funds for Basic Government Facilities are from our money but instead of putting it in Good Use instead They Fund for Themselves

Its not about PTI , PPP or PML.
Despite vote preferences, focus should be national development.
Every stone placed in right direction is appreciated.
These two steps are towards right Governance and transparency, and must be well applaud.
I bet you our people do worked at a very base level conditions and with outcome equivalent to excellence level.

Think in a way a better place to live for our new generation.

Life out side Pakistan very competitive.

  • We should I serve other prosper countries especially china and south plus Japan and mix their educational system and apply it all over Pakistan which will result in free will iyf students and open new fields making both students and Pakistan government happy in the future.
I also request that sports clubs should be added in schools and colleges to find new stars and promote new knowledge instead of changing syllabus every year.
The government should promote Urdu all over the country and fund other fields as well.
If they do their support and funds will tremendously increase and who knows how many gems get born in this country after 150 years.
