The Sindh Education Department has directed schools to retrieve free textbooks from students after the completion of annual examinations.
According to a spokesperson for the provincial education department, schools have been instructed to record the return of textbooks on students’ result cards and maintain a complete register of books issued and received back.
The spokesperson said that all collected textbooks must be safely stored in school book banks for future use. The directive applies to students from primary to higher secondary levels, making it mandatory for institutions to ensure the return of books across all grades.
In addition, district education officers have been instructed to submit updated stock records of textbooks to the relevant regional directors.
The department said the move is aimed at improving inventory management and ensuring the availability of textbooks for students in the coming academic sessions.
