Punjab Govt Launches Provincial Anti-Narcotics Force

The Punjab government has established a Provincial Anti-Narcotics Force to strengthen efforts against drug trafficking and safeguard the youth from substance abuse.

Officials said the force has been deployed across nine divisions of Punjab, forming specialized teams at the police station level comprising officers from various government departments.

These teams will conduct coordinated operations against drug dealers.

In Lahore, a special court under Additional Sessions Judge Ramzan Khichi has been set up to expedite pending drug-related cases, ensuring faster legal proceedings.

The central police station of the force has been established in Harbanspura, where personnel have been posted. Two prosecutors, Shabbir Ahmed Khan and Sajid Saeed Bhatti, have been appointed to ensure effective case follow-ups.

Authorities said the new force will tighten the noose on drug traffickers and accelerate anti-narcotics operations across the province.
