The date for the key meeting to sight the Ramadan crescent has been officially announced, with the session scheduled to take place on February 18 in Peshawar.
The meeting will be chaired by Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, head of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee. The committee will review testimonies from across the country and examine technical data before making a final decision regarding the sighting of the Ramadan moon for 1447 AH and announcing the first day of fasting.
Members of both the central and zonal Ruet-e-Hilal committees are expected to attend. Officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony will also participate, alongside representatives of SUPARCO, the Pakistan Meteorological Department, and the Ministry of Science and Technology, who will provide scientific and weather-related assessments.
Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad has appealed to citizens to actively observe the sky on the evening of the meeting and report any confirmed sightings of the crescent moon.
He also expressed hope that the country would begin Ramadan on the same day nationwide, promoting unity among Muslims during the holy month.
