Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday announced a Rs. 38 billion Ramazan Relief Package for deserving families across all four provinces, as well as Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing the launch ceremony of the PM Ramazan Package 2026, the prime minister said the funds would be distributed digitally among 1.21 million families without discrimination. Each eligible family will receive Rs. 13,000 through a digital wallet or direct bank transfer.
Out of the total Rs. 38 billion, an amount of Rs. 10 billion has been allocated for families already registered under the government’s Kafalat program.
The prime minister said the government had replaced the previous distribution system, which relied on utility stores, with a digital mechanism to ensure transparency and protect the dignity of beneficiaries. He noted that earlier packages were marred by long queues and complaints about substandard items.
He acknowledged challenges in implementing the digital model, including coordination with banks and the transition toward a cashless system. The State Bank of Pakistan has issued a framework to ensure transparent and secure disbursement. The government will review progress periodically, he added.
