Examinations at Abbottabad University of Science and Technology were cancelled, and the campus was closed after protests erupted over the killing of student leader Abdullah Khan at the university’s main gate earlier this week.
According to university sources, examination papers had already been distributed when the administration abruptly halted the process and collected them from students amid growing unrest.
Students, joined by residents and relatives of the deceased, staged protests demanding the immediate arrest of those involved in the shooting. Two other students were also injured during the clash between rival student groups.
Protesters alleged that the deceased was affiliated with Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf. Witnesses claimed armed suspects fled the scene after the incident.
Local political figure Uzair Sher Khan joined demonstrators and warned that protesters could block the Hazara Motorway if authorities failed to arrest the suspects promptly.
The university administration assured protesters of cooperation with law enforcement, stating that efforts are underway to bring those responsible to justice.
