Faisalabad Records Hundreds of Child Abuse Cases

Despite hundreds of reported cases of sexual abuse against minors in Faisalabad during 2025, no accused in cases registered this year has yet been convicted, official statistics show, raising concerns over delays in prosecution and justice delivery in Pakistan.

Police records indicate that 663 cases involving minors were registered across 45 police stations in the district during 2025, with 989 suspects identified.

However, courts have not yet issued convictions in any of these cases.

Authorities dismissed 131 cases on various grounds, while charge sheets were submitted in 344 cases.

Another 154 cases were sent to prosecutors with incomplete challans, and 18 remain under investigation.

Divisional data show that the Madina Town, Iqbal, Jaranwala, Saddar, and Lyallpur divisions recorded significant numbers of cases, with many still pending investigation or awaiting prosecution due to incomplete documentation.

The trend continues into 2026, with 57 cases involving 76 suspects reported in January alone. Several cases remain under investigation, while others await prosecution proceedings.

Although no convictions were recorded for cases registered in 2025, courts issued sentences in four cases from previous years, including one case resulting in a 50-year prison term and financial penalties for rape, while other cases led to sentences ranging from 10 years’ imprisonment to the death penalty in rape-and-murder cases.

Legal experts warn that delays in investigations, incomplete challans, and slow prosecution processes continue to hinder timely justice for victims and their families.
