The Punjab government has approved the Widow Support Card scheme to provide financial assistance to widows across the province.
Under the initiative, each widow will receive PKR 100,000, while mothers of one child will get an additional PKR 25,000, and support for up to two children will total PKR 50,000.
The Department of Zakat will launch the program before Ramazan, with rural Zakat committees submitting lists of eligible widows to ensure the timely distribution of aid.
The total estimated cost of the scheme is PKR 4 billion, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting vulnerable women and their families.
Officials stated that the scheme aims to provide immediate financial relief and improve the socio-economic conditions of widows, particularly in rural areas where access to resources is limited.
