The Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) on Thursday foiled a major narcotics smuggling attempt along the Indus River, recovering 43 kilograms of charas with an estimated market value of Rs. 13 million, APP reported..
According to a CNF spokesperson, intelligence reports indicated that narcotics were being transported from District Swabi to Punjab via boats operating on the Indus River.
Acting on confirmed information, CNF personnel carried out a timely operation that resulted in the seizure of the illicit consignment.
The spokesperson added that the recovered drugs have been taken into custody in accordance with legal requirements, while further investigations are underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the smuggling network.
He said the successful operation reflects the Punjab government’s zero-tolerance policy against narcotics and forms part of the CNF’s comprehensive enforcement strategy, which involves continuous monitoring of potential drug trafficking routes.
