Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab has ordered city officials to finish all ongoing development work before Eid, warning staff that delays will not be tolerated.
He issued the instructions during an early visit to inspect multiple projects, including road carpeting in the Old City area and renovation work on Jahangir Road, Hidayatullah Road, and Shahrah-e-Faisal.
Calling Jahangir Road a key route linking major city arteries, the mayor directed authorities to speed up construction. He said the administration is trying to open at least one track of the road before the Eid holidays to reduce inconvenience for commuters.
Wahab also told municipal teams to focus on delivery rather than presentations.
“I don’t want briefings anymore,” he said, adding that with Ramazan underway, people should see facilities improved ahead of Eid.
He said the upgrades in the Old City would help improve traffic movement across Karachi, and instructed that construction standards must be maintained. The mayor also ordered that contractor payments should only be released after proper inspection and verification.
He assured citizens that the ongoing work would lead to noticeable infrastructure improvements after a short period of disruption.
