Punjab Govt Cancels Schools of Eminence Project

The Government of Punjab has decided to terminate the Schools of Eminence project, which aimed to provide quality education to students in underprivileged and rural areas using existing school infrastructure.

According to sources, the project was planned with a total budget of Rs5 billion and a timeline from January 1, 2026, to June 2026.

However, no funds were released for the scheme during the 2025-26 fiscal year, and documents show zero financial progress.

During the mid-year review meeting, a senior minister approved the termination of the project. Following this, the Planning and Development Board (P&D) reallocated the funds to other development initiatives.

Officials stated that by ending the scheme, available resources will now be directed toward more effective development projects, aiming to achieve better results in the education sector.
