Fans Harass Pakistan Captain’s Wife Online After T20 World Cup Loss

Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha’s wife has spoken out against online abuse after Pakistan’s loss to England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super Eight, calling on fans to stop targeting families, especially children, when venting frustration over results.

Hours after England’s win dented Pakistan’s semi-final chances, she posted a blunt message on Instagram:

“Sending me or my innocent son abuse is not going to win you the World Cup Pakistani fans.”

Following the defeat, angry supporters flooded social media with criticism aimed at Pakistan’s performance and Salman Ali Agha’s captaincy.

While post-match backlash is routine in high-pressure tournaments, some users reportedly escalated things into vulgar personal attacks and even death threats directed at Agha’s family.

Her post drew attention to a recurring issue in Pakistan cricket: the tendency for online outrage to spill into harassment of players’ loved ones.

Given that Agha’s wife is reportedly a British-Pakistani, based off her Instagram bio, some fans labelled her and Agha as “English agents” and decided to dox her social media account to the public.

Speaking after the match, Salman Ali Agha admitted Pakistan did not finish their innings the way they had planned, while also crediting England, particularly Harry Brook, for taking the game away.

Pakistan set England a target of 165 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, but Brook’s innings turned the chase into a comfortable one. The England captain smashed 100 off 51 balls, hitting four sixes and 10 fours.

After the match, Pakistan is still in contention for the semi-finals. Pakistan not only must-win against Sri Lanka, they have to rely on the outcomes of the other remaining matches to go their way.
