PTA’s New Web Portal Will Monitor Telecom Network Coverage, Service Quality, And More

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced plans to develop a GIS-based web portal to improve monitoring of telecom network coverage, infrastructure, and service quality across Pakistan.

The initiative aims to strengthen regulatory oversight by combining geographic data with telecom performance information on a centralized digital platform.

The proposed portal will collect and organize network data from telecom operators across the country, including remote and underserved regions such as Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

By mapping infrastructure and coverage patterns, the system will allow regulators to analyze regional disparities and support policy decisions to improve connectivity.

Through the GIS platform, PTA will be able to visualize telecom towers, network coverage areas, and service performance indicators on interactive digital maps. The portal is expected to help identify coverage gaps, monitor quality of service trends, and track infrastructure expansion. It will also support data analysis tools to assist in planning future network improvements and ensuring better service availability for users.

According to the notice, the project will be managed from PTA headquarters in Islamabad as part of broader efforts to enhance transparency and efficiency in telecom sector monitoring.
