Riphah University Plans to Enter African Region as Part of Global Expansion

Mr. Hassan Muhammad Khan, Chancellor of Riphah International University, recently led a high-level strategic delegation to Ghana, marking a significant milestone in South-South cooperation. Accompanied by His Excellency Mr. Najeeb Durrani, Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Ghana, the delegation held a pivotal meeting with the Honourable Minister for Education of Ghana and the Honourable Dr. Clement Abass Apaak, Deputy Minister for Education, to discuss the establishment of a branch campus in Ghana.

This initiative aligns with Ghana’s national agenda to strengthen STEM and health sciences education, leading to the formation of a dedicated joint working group and plans for a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to guide the partnership.

Furthering the global expansion of the university, Mr. Hassan Muhammad Khan, Chancellor, engaged with Dr. Mary Awusi, CEO of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA). Discussions centered on leveraging Ghana’s Free Zones for high-value service exports, including specialized teaching hospitals, research labs, and agribusiness investment. With the support of the GFZA’s investment incentives, such as 10-year tax holidays and 100% foreign ownership, Riphah International University aims to create a “knowledge enclave” that supports regional medical tourism and industrial growth.

This multi-sectoral visit, supported by Mr. Noor Nabi Watto, Deputy High Commissioner, and Brigadier Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi (SI), Director of International Business Development, reinforces Riphah International University’s commitment to providing world-class education while nurturing the moral character of future leaders in West Africa.
