US Visa Appointments Canceled in Two Pakistani Cities

The United States has temporarily suspended operations at its Consulate General in Peshawar, effective March 2, and canceled scheduled consular appointments in Karachi and Lahore amid ongoing security and traffic disruptions.

In an official advisory, U.S. authorities announced that the Consulate General in Peshawar has halted operations until further notice. All routine and emergency consular services for U.S. citizens will now be handled by the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad.

The Consulates General in Karachi and Lahore have also canceled all U.S. visa and American Citizen Services appointments scheduled for Tuesday, March 3, citing continued traffic diversions and disruptions around diplomatic premises.

The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad is set to resume normal consular operations on March 3. The U.S. mission further stated that movement of American government personnel remains restricted across Pakistan as a precautionary measure.

U.S. citizens in Pakistan have been advised to monitor local media for updates, avoid large gatherings, remain alert to their surroundings, and ensure their Smart Traveler Enrollment Program registration is up to date.
