During the session, officials discussed a comprehensive strategy to address sanitation challenges in Islamabad. Randhawa said a complete cleanliness system should be developed to resolve sanitation-related issues in the federal capital without delay.

He also announced that a special cleanliness campaign will be launched across Islamabad. He emphasized that special attention will be given to modern equipment, machinery, manpower, and planning to effectively address sanitation problems.

Officials briefed the meeting on several measures, including increasing the number of waste containers in both urban and rural areas. Repair work on damaged waste containers already installed in the city will also be carried out.

The number of waste collection trolleys will be increased, and additional dustbins will be installed across the city to support proper waste disposal.

Randhawa directed that a three-bin system be implemented in commercial markets (Marakiz) to allow waste separation and recycling. He also said local traders should be included in the cleanliness campaign in commercial markets and trade centers.

The chairman instructed that neighborhood committees be formed to involve local residents in improving sanitation. He further directed authorities to issue challans and impose fines on individuals who litter in commercial areas and markets.

Randhawa said the Islamabad Food Authority should take action against restaurants responsible for improper waste disposal.

He also directed that a 24/7 control room be established to monitor sanitation operations in the city. Helpline numbers for citizen complaints will be displayed on digital screens across Islamabad to increase public awareness.

Officials informed the meeting that wireless sets and new uniforms are being provided to field staff to improve response times. The meeting also decided that a process of licensing and registration will be initiated for scavengers involved in garbage collection in different areas of the city.
