A Siberian Husky named “Casper,” known as a Pakistan Champion dog, has died after allegedly being attacked in Islamabad.
According to police records, the dog belonged to Haroon Mustafa Janjua, a journalist associated with The London Times and DW Germany.
Janjua filed a complaint at Lohi Bher Police Station, stating that he had invited two individuals, Rajesh (also known as Raja) and Zahid Abbas, to bring his dog Casper for study purposes.
Janjua told the police that during the visit, the two men became angry at the dog. One of them allegedly struck Casper with a steel chain, leaving the dog seriously injured and bleeding.
The injured Husky was immediately taken to a hospital for treatment. However, the dog succumbed to its severe injuries shortly afterward.
Following Janjua’s complaint, police registered a case against the suspects. The case has been filed under Sections 428, 429, and 425 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which relate to mischief by killing or injuring animals and causing damage to property.
Police have reportedly launched raids at suspected locations to arrest the accused individuals. According to reports, the Special Branch has also become involved in the investigation.
