Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has delayed providing net metering connections to consumers, despite clear orders from the Federal Minister for Power Division, Sardar Owais Khan Laghari.
The minister had instructed LESCO to process all applications submitted by February 8, yet circles, divisions, and subdivisions have not initiated work on pending cases.
Official departmental action on net metering requests submitted in February has not started, causing frustration among consumers.
Many users had signed net metering agreements with LESCO two months ago and obtained licenses from NEPRA for solar electricity generation.
After issuing materials to consumers, LESCO halted meter installation work, leaving many solar system owners unable to generate power.
Consumers and experts have criticized the lack of implementation, saying it undermines renewable energy initiatives and delays the promised benefits of net metering programs.
